Embattled SuperSport coach pins hopes on new recruits

Eric Tinkler is confident that his newly recruited attackers can take SuperSport United out of their slump.

Matsatsantsa A Pitori have won just one of their eight Absa Premiership matches so far this year, resulting in the capital city campaigners dropping to the relegation quagmire as they currently sit six points above automatic relegation.

Tinkler said SuperSport’s poor conversion rate in front of goal is detriment of the team’s success as they have only scored three goals in eight games. However, the former Orlando Pirates mentor reckons Evans Rusike and Mogakolodi Ngele are the right players to remedy their misfortunes up front.

“I thought Rusike did well (against AmaZulu), and Mogakolodi Ngele did well when he came on and I see them definitely providing us with what we need,” said Tinkler.

“Our biggest problem has been putting the ball in the back of the net. What we need to do now is find the back of the net,” added Tinkler.

Rusike has already scored seven league goals in the colors of Maritzburg United, while Ngele – on loan from Sundowns – will be looking to hit the form that helped Bidvest Wits win the 2016/17 Premiership title.
