The Dutch and La Liga show interest in Chiefs target Serero

Reports coming out of the Netherlands suggest that Vitesse Arnhem and Deportivo La Coruna are interested in signing Bafana Bafana midfielder Thulani Serero.

“The South African came last season no longer in the plans of Ajax, loved his workout at Ajax and played a few times along with the team of Marcel Keizer and John Heitinga. Although Deportivo can provide a much higher salary than Vitesse, the Arnhem are not lost in advance. Serero feels at home in the Netherlands and said to choose feeling,” Dutch newspaper Telegraaf reported on their website.

Serero did not played a single game for Ajax this past season after he was left out of the club’s squad for the 2016/17 season.

The 27-year-old midfielder, whose contract with Ajax is set to expire at the end of June, has previously been linked with moves to Bordeaux and Reading, although no deal has as yet materialised.

Kaizer Chiefs were also said to be interested in signing Serero on loan in January, but that move did not happen.

Now, reports suggest that Vitesse and Deportivo are about to battle it out for his signature.

The 27-year-old will see his stay with Ajax Amsterdam come to an end on June 30, when his contract expires, with indications that the player is keen on continuing his footballing career abroad.
