Chiefs found themselves trailing 1-0 early in the game, and it seemed like they might be in for another tough match and disappointing result.
However, they made a stunning comeback in the second half, scoring two goals and clinching a well-deserved win in Durban.
Dove, who played a pivotal role in the victory, was a standout performer for Chiefs, encouraging his teammates throughout.
He not only did a stellar job defensively, making sure the side kept their shape when under attack, but also netted the second goal in the 76th minute, securing the victory for Amakhosi. The first goal was scored by midfielder Edson Castillo in the 60th minute.
After the match, Dove expressed his gratitude, saying, “First of all, I want to thank God for giving me this opportunity.
“I thank my teammates for fighting the way we did to get back into the game. I am happy to have started the game, especially considering my recent injury. I am very thankful to the coaches for giving me this opportunity.”
Dove commits to helping minimise mistakes
Dove stood out among the defenders on the pitch, and he used the opportunity to encourage his fellow players to stay focused and mark their opponents effectively.
He also addressed the team’s ongoing issue of conceding goals in critical moments, emphasising their commitment to addressing this concern.
“We are working on fixing the problem of conceding goals at crucial times. When we return to Johannesburg, we will continue working on that,” Dove remarked.
Chiefs have faced challenges with conceding goals at pivotal moments in recent matches, including an early goal against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi final.
They also conceded a late goal in added time during one of the DStv Premiership matches against the same Sundowns.
Dove’s strong performance might just put pressure on Sifiso Hlanti, who has been struggling with mistakes in recent games, for a spot in the starting lineup.
