Doutie impresses Ajax coach

Former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United winger Sameegh Doutie has impressed Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo.

Doutie and Zambian midfielder Aubrey Funga, who is also undergoing trial at Ajax, have been training with the club for some time now, and they were involved in a practice match against Highlands Park last weekend.

“The two trialists, Aubrey and Doutie, I think they did well, especially Doutie. He knows the Ajax way of playing, so for him it was easier. Aubrey, you can see that he has things that we can use,” Menzo said.

The Ajax coach also got some time to watch his new signings Roderick Kabwe and Rheece Evans and said both still needed to familiarise themselves with the culture of the Urban Warriors.

“Both have to adapt to the way we play, the way of playing, but it will come, and I was satisfied, especially by Kabwe in the midfield,” Menzo added.

“Rheece had some problems, but he played 90 minutes, and I’m happy for him.”

With Doutie having impressed Menzo, the winger is likely to sign this week or just before the transfer window closes.
