In a column in a weekly soccer publication, Doctor described her daughter as a pillar of strength and a woman with the brave heart of a man.
“I saw my daughter when she was born and I held her hand when she took her last breath. From the day she was admitted to hospital to her very last‚ I was always at her bedside hoping she would recover and come back home. I thank God for allowing me the opportunity to share some good and great moments with my daughter,” wrote Doctor in a column on Soccer Laduma.
Doctor applauded the fact that Theonada remained level-headed even when her father was a soccer legend.
“She was never one to go out there and disrespect people, regardless of their status or whether they have or have not …
“I’m not the kind of person who likes to expose or talk in public about family matters because I’m a very private individual, and that’s not going to change, but I feel like I owe it to her to tell this story.
“I’m so grateful that she turned out to be such an inspirational young lady‚ a very loving a caring lady‚” continued Doctor.
He said that words failed him and that it was hard for him to write the piece as he is a private person.
