Dikwena keepers thankful to Nedbank after debut

Platinum Stars goalkeeper Mwenya Chibwe has thanked the Nedbank Cup’s Ke Yona team search initiative after making his debut for the team during their 3-0 win against Bloemfontein Celtic at Dr Molemela Stadium.

An injury to Dikwena’s first choice shot-stopper Mbongeni Mzimela opened the door for Chibwe in the first 10 minutes of the second half, where he made his official debut since signing for the Rustenburg side in 2013.

“I don’t think Nedbank realise what they have done for a young man like me and not only for me, also for my community. Nedbank has changed my life and has also made up and coming stars in my community to believe that anything is possible,” Chibwe said.

The 23-year old goalkeeper was part of the Ke Yona team that played against Kaizer Chiefs and went to sign with Dikwena before the team sent him on loan to Garankuwa United in the 2014/2015, who were playing their trade in the National First Division (NFD) then.

Entries to the 2017 edition of the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search are currently open to players between the ages of 18 and 23 with a valid South African identity document. To enter for the Ke Yona Team Search, players can simply dial *120*539662# and follow the easy steps.
