Dikwena confirm Matlakala signing, eyeing more players

Dikwena general manager Senzo Mazingiza says it was very important for the club to get Matlakala’s signature after the departure of Ndumiso Mabena, Bongi Ntuli and Henrico Botes.

“We have been eying the young man. We have been looking for his signature. We had to speak to his club. We have agreed terms with them. He is now our player,” said Mazingiza.

“Bongi Ntuli and Henrico Botes are no longer with us. So it’s key that we brought Matlakala to the club. Ntuli was on loan from Sundowns and talks of keeping him for long term did not materialise. We are moving ahead. We hope Matlakala will fill that gap.”

Mazingiza added that the team is still on the hunt for new players, but could not reveal the identities of the players they are chasing.

“Very soon the club will be making announcements. Most of the players are still contracted to their clubs. We will follow the rules and tread carefully. We are really hunting players that will assist in ensuring that we have got a balanced side going forward.”

Meanwhile, new Stars coach Peter Butler will assess his players when they participate in the Bokone Bophirima Maize Cup this Saturday.

Stars take on Free State Stars in the first semi-final followed by the Kaizer Chiefs and Township Rollers clash at the James Motlatsi Stadium. The games start at 10am and 12pm respectively.
