Details of Coetzee’s Celtic move revealed

Glasgow Celtic are said to have convinced Ajax Cape Town to let defender Rivaldo Coetzee join the Scottish giants for transfer fee of around £800k (around R13 million).

Celtic are also reported to have offered the 20-year-old a three-year contract, subject to him passing a medical test.

According to the Daily Record in Scotland coach Brendan Rodgers travelled to South Africa to monitor the player before the start of the season and urged the club to enquire about the defender.

The injury that Coetzee sustained in Ajax Cape Town’s league opener will not affect his move to Celtic.

The Urban Warriors earlier confirmed the defender’s departure from the club having agree on a transfer fee.

Coetzee is set to discuss personal terms with the club before moving to Celtic.

The centre back was named in Stuart Baxter’s Bafana Bafana squad to face Cape Verde in World Cup qualifiers next month.
