Davids puts Pirates on the hunt for goals to take down Simba

'Our focus is not to be distracted by all the noise, we just have to focus on the pitch and the task at hand,' said Davids.

Orlando Pirates co-head coach Fadlu Davids has admitted he is not sure how Simba SC will set up in the second leg of their Caf Confederation Cup quarterfinal at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.

Pirates are on the backfoot from the first leg, with the South Africans having lost 1-0 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzania a week ago.

Davids reveals that they have done their homework on the Reds of Msimbazi, stating that the Tanzanian club have different approaches to games when they are not at their home base,

Davids added, however, that the only thing that Pirates need to do is to get the goals to enable them to move into the semifinals.

“Our focus is not to be distracted by all the noise, we just have to focus on the pitch and the task at hand,” said Davids.

“Of course we have analysed them in relation to how they approach matches away from home and at home. Away from home they have played in different structures, but we are prepared. We don’t know how they are going to come, they have played in five defensive lines, they have played in a normal 4-3-2-1 in certain matches,” said Davids.

“They have played in a low block, they have played in a medium block in certain matches, so how they are going to approach the game is one thing. How we are going to attack is really clear in terms of how we are going to approach the game. Our job is to score, our job is to win the match and that’s the task at hand.”

Simba arrived in the country on Friday afternoon ahead of the match as they look to finish the job, but it will surely be difficult for coach Pablo Franco Martin and his troops, with the Buccaneers having a good record playing at home.

Pirates didn’t record any loss at home during their home matches in the group stages, while Simba have found it tough when playing away from home.
