Da Gama ready to coach Bafana

Highlands Park coach Owen da Gama says he is prepared to lead Bafana Bafana if no one else is available to coach them.

Da Gama coached Bafana on an interim basis before Stuart Baxter was appointed.

“I think it is too early to discuss that (the Bafana coaching job),” Da Gama was quoted by TimesLIVE.

“I have previously recommended quite a few coaches in your presence. I said I thought Gavin Hunt. I thought Pitso Mosimane. I thought Steve Komphela. So I have recommended those. It is difficult for me to answer you on that.

“But if nobody is available and I’m asked to serve the country‚ I will serve the country. But as you know I have made my recommendations.”

The Bafana coaching job became vacant when Baxter stepped down last Friday.

Molefi Ntseki has since been appointed as a caretaker coach by Safa.
