Consistency helping Maritzburg keep clean sheets
Maritzburg United’s goalkeeper coach Arthur Bartman has revealed that the team’s consistency at the back is due to the coach not chopping and changing his back four.

The Team of Choice have kept clean sheets in their last five matches, with goalkeeper Richard Ofori showing why he is Ghana’s No. 1.
“I think the consistent back line and Richard Ofori have been great,” he said. “It’s very important because if you chop and change your defence and goalkeeper you are bound to concede goals.
“In football you need a consistent defensive line and a goalkeeper. I always speak to the goalkeepers about communication. That’s how I was taught, communication is key for a goalkeeper,” added Bartman.
Besides Ofori, Maritzburg have capable replacements in Bongani Mpandle, Jethren Barr and Constandino Christodoulou, should anything happen to him.
Bartman believes that competition for places in the goalkeeping department is also vital so that everyone is kept on their toes and ready to pull on the jersey if called upon.
“Yes it’s very good, competition in the goalkeeping department is good for the team as a whole. We must push each other to improve,” Bartman concluded.
