City to plot Sundowns’ downfall
Cape Town City will this week prepare to take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup in the Mother City.

City midfielder Thabo Nodada told Phakaaathi about his side’s ambition to win the national cup, as it is their last hope for ending the season with silverware.
“It is our last hope for a trophy this season and we need to continue improving Cape Town City’s goals,” said Nodada.
The 22-year-old revealed that City have not yet got into the finer details on how to plot against the Brazilians.
“We haven’t really dealt with the issue that we are playing Sundowns. We have been training normally but going into the week we will be getting into it and see how we prepare for them.”
Winning the title would give City a passport to the Caf Confederation Cup next season – a competition they recently got knocked out of by Mozambican side Costa do Sol.
“That short stint that we played was a good experience for us before bowing out and we’d want to go back,” commented Nodada.
Also, a third place finish in the league will also set the Mother City side up for continental football next season, something Nodada knows very well.
“With the league, we dropped a bit, but if you look at the points and look at a few wins would do for us, we are still in the running for the third place position. All is not lost, there is still a lot for us to go for in terms of the league and the Nedbank Cup.”
