Chiefs’ young keeper impresses Middendorp in less than an hour

Kaizer Chiefs coach, Ernst Middendorp has no worries that Itumeleng Khune will be out for the remainder of the season as he feels he has enough quality to fill the void.

Questions over Amakhosi’s last defensive line were raised after Virgil Vries’ blunder that gifted Mamelodi Sundowns a goal and three points last weekend.

But speaking after the 2-0 win at Bidvest Wits on Wednesday night, Middendorp said the very next day he watched the 23-year-old Bruce Bvuma against German Bundesilga side in a friendly Werder Bremen and was impressed.

“From what I saw on Sunday I was very impressed with Bruce. I had only seen him at training and wondered if that is enough… I only saw him for just 50 minutes but what I saw of Bruce on Sunday gave me peace that we have another quality keeper,” said Middendorp.
