Philippe trained with Chiefs for close to a month, but the club decided against giving him a contract.
This was revealed by Chiefs coach Steve Komphela during a press conference after his side’s 1-1 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic at Free State Stadium on Sunday.

“We let go of him because we’re saying if we have to bring in a striker, it has been to be above what we have,” said Komphela.
“We felt that he was not at the stage where you’d say he’s above [Bernard] Parker, he’s above maybe [Gustavo] Paez and [Ryan] Moon.
“We said, instead of staying too long, let’s rather release him and then see if he’s got other options somewhere out there.”
Chiefs are set to take on SuperSport United in a league match at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.
