Chiefs not pushing for additional security at FNB Stadium

Kaizer Chiefs communications manager Vina Maphosa says the club will not push for additional security to guard the team at the FNB Stadium on Sunday.

Chiefs, who were pelted by fans during Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Chippa United, will play against relegation-threatened Platinum Stars at the same venue.

Maphosa says the team will not push for additional security measures for the game based on what happened over the weekend, adding that the authorities will decide if there’s a need for additional security.

“It is a matter of holistic preparations for the match, so it not a yes or no thing. The match commissioner on the day will verify what has been planned during the week and then it will be endorsed,” Maphosa told Phakaaathi.

“If there are threats then they will be incorporated into the planning, so it won’t be standalone thing or for the team to get security.”
