Chiefs’ Nabi – ‘This is for the supporters’

“I want to congratulate the players, and this is for the supporters,” Nabi told SuperSport TV.

“But it is not a performance if we qualify for the final. (It is) if we win the Nedbank Cup. We need to go maximum to win the Nedbank Cup.”

Chiefs went behind on the stroke of half time against Sundowns at Loftus Stadium, as Teboho Mokoena fired in a fine free kick. But second half strikes from Wandile Duba and Ashley Du Preez set up a Soweto derby showdown against the Buccaneers.

“I think even the first half was very good for us tactically,” added Nabi.

‘At half time we said only one thing’

“We knew how Sundowns could be affected physically, after Esperance, and they have their game against Al Ahly (Sundowns will play the Egyptian giants in the upcoming Champions League semifinals).

“It was very difficult (to concede) in the last minute of the first half. At half time we said only one thing – that this is our game, that we have to win for the fans and for the board.

“In the second half we did very well.”
