Chiefs legend willing to hear offer from Amakhosi

Steve Komphela vacated the top job at the back of the violence breakout at the Moses Mabhida Stadium when Chiefs were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by Free State Stars last month.

Khumalo, otherwise known as 16V, has been earmarked for a return to the club where his stay spread over three decades.

The 50-year-old is the technical director at Baroka, although he has been at the helm of the club in the past two games. Khumalo says he has not received any communication from Naturena and will return to his original post immediately.

“I am going back to being a technical director (next season) I respect the job the job that Baroka gave me,” he said.

“About Kaizer Chiefs, nobody has called me yet,” he added.

He continued: “If Bra K (Kaizer Motaung) calls me… I mean, that’s my father, I will go to listen to what he has to say. I can’t give a blind eye because that man gave me a platform and that the end of the day if he calls me I will go and listen to him.”

Khumalo confirmed that there have been a lot of interests in the Baroka top job as they have been without a head coach since the dismissal of Kgoloko Thobejane in March.

“We have got so many applications that I have seen and some are some of the guys that we know,” said the Bafana Bafana legend.
