Chiefs juniors set to defend their Shield title

The Chiefs reserves won the inaugural competition after some brilliant campaign, which saw them beat Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 at the Makhulong Stadium last year.

Following the end of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge, Season Two of the Diski Shield is set to begin on the weekend of March 31 with Kaizer Chiefs set to start their title defence at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

The Chiefs reserves won the inaugural competition after some brilliant campaign, which saw them beat Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 at the Makhulong Stadium last year.

The Diski Shield is an extension of the Diski Challenge – but the Diski Shield takes the shape of Cup competition while the Diski Challenge is league-format.

All the 16 clubs in the MDC have been grouped into four groups with each group consisting of four clubs.

In the first round of the tournament, clubs will play each other once and the club with the highest number of points at the end of the group stages will progress to the semi-finals.

Group A – Bidvest Wits, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Highlands Park

Group B – Bloemfontein Celtic, Cape Town City, Free State Stars and SuperSport United

Group C – Baroka FC, Black Leopards, Mamelodi Sundowns and Polokwane City

Group D – AmaZulu FC, Chippa United, Lamontville Golden Arrows and Maritzburg United
