Chiefs hit by injuries ahead of Stars clash

Kaizer Chiefs will face Platinum Stars at the FNB Stadium on Sunday without the services of defenders Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Erick Mathoho and Teenage Hadebe.


The trio is suffering from assortment of injuries picked up during the 3-0 loss to Chippa United last weekend.

“We have a few injury concerns to deal with after the Chippa United game,” Chiefs’ first team physiotherapist David Milner told the club’s website. “The match resulted in three players getting injuries.”

“Rama [Ramahlwe Mphahlele] will take seven days to recover from the hamstring,” Milner explained. “We will be monitoring him over the next few days.”

“Tower [Erick Mathoho] had a blow to the head and thereafter he felt dizzy. He will be out for seven to 10 days.”

Teenage Hadebe, meanwhile, injured his ankle. “He is suspected to have aggravated his ankle. We will assess in the next four days.”

Chiefs will host Stars in an Absa Premiership fixture on Sunday at 3pm.
