Chiefs have been chasing me for some time – Baccus

Baccus, who was born in Durban but raised in Australia, is delighted to have made the move back to South Africa to join Chiefs.

New Kaizer Chiefs signing Kearyn Baccus has revealed that Amakhosi have chased him for some time.

“Last season there was a bit of interest, but I couldn’t get a release from my club Melbourne City,” Baccus told reporters.

“They asked me again a couple of months ago and I spoke to my agent and family, and it felt like the right thing to do. I definitely wanted a new challenge and I’m happy that I’m here.

“I was born here, so I’m not really scared of what can or is going to happen. Anything can happen in any country. I’ve just got to have an open mind about things and be wary,” added Baccus.

Baccus hopes to get Chiefs back to the top of the Absa Premiership.

“Chiefs is a big club and I want to help them get back to where I think it should be. Hopefully, I can do that this season,” he added.

Amakhosi fans might get the chance to see Baccus in action when Chiefs take on Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates in the carling Black Label Cup on Saturday.
