Chiefs game is a must win – Comitis

Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has labeled their match against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday as a “must win”.

Comitis believes a victory will give new meaning to City’s title-winning ambitions, adding that a loss will see them shift their focus to the Confederation Cup where they defeated Swaziland’s Young Buffaloes 1-0 in the first-leg of the preliminary round.

Ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Glamour Boys at the FNB Stadium, Benni McCarthy’s side were derailed in their Absa Premiership title chase when they lost to table-topper Mamelodi Sundowns about three weeks ago and are now seven points Pitso Mosimane’s team.

“The league comes first if we win on Saturday. For me I feel like we have no choice but to win against Chiefs. It is an all-out game for us in in order to stay in the title chase,” Comitis said Comitis.

“We have to win this game, and if we do win, it will be a critical turning point. If we win I think we will be very well positioned to contest for the league. We have discussed it to that effect with the players and they know what it is at state,” the City chairman added.

Given the crowd that Chiefs are able to pull in support, Comitis reckons this will be one of the matches of the season, considering that Amakhosi did beat them 2-0 I the first round, revenge is in the air for Comitis and his mother city based side.

“I think it is going to be feisty game. It will be one of the most exciting games of the season, I have no doubt and it will be a good crowd and we are up for it. The thing about this game is that we must not feat, we need to just out our best performance,” Comitis said.
