Kaizer Chiefs face a stadium ban after their fans again threw missiles at head coach Molefi Ntseki, following their 1-0 Carling Knockout last 16 loss at home to AmaZulu at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Taariq Fielies’ late strike was enough to send AmaZulu into the quarterfinals, and it was all too much for a section of Chiefs supporters, who pelted Ntseki as he left the field.
On October 2, Chiefs were fined R180 000, with a further R50 000 suspended, after their fans threw missiles at Ntseki following a 1-0 DStv Premiership loss to SuperSport United and a 2-1 MTN8 semifinal second leg defeat by Mamelodi Sundowns.
That R50 000 will now surely be applied and Chiefs will also surely be forced to play a game behind closed doors, as per the verdict of PSL Prosecutor Zola Majavu.
Chiefs’ next home match is set to be a DStv Premiership home encounter with Cape Town Spurs at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on November 8. It remains to be seen if this is the game they have to play in an empty stadium.
Ntseki’s position at Chiefs will surely now come under further pressure, meanwhile, after this cup exit, which extends Amakhosi’s trophy drought. Chiefs have not won a piece of PSL silverware since 2015.
The former Bafana head coach was a controversial appointment ahead of the start of the season, with no previous experience as a head coach in the DStv Premiership.
