Chiefs fans bay for Komphela’s blood

Komphela had to be escorted out of the Moses Mabhida Stadium by security personnel on Saturday night as fans became restless and threw missiles onto the pitch while calling for him to vacate his position following a 2-1 defeat to Baroka FC in an Absa Premiership match.

“I am not in a position to address that right now. But the only way we can give the message to fans is through our performances,” said Komphela.

Amakhosi have collected just nine points from seven matches and Komphela admitted that this was shameful for a club of their stature.

“We are not happy. When you have nine points after the number of matches we have played you can’t be happy.

“There was good, positive energy in our play. Even after they scored the second we were good. If we had taken our chances we could have equalised and even won the match. We created a number of chances and this result was just unfortunate,” he said.

Baroka go into the international break top of the table with 13 points, two ahead of second placed Golden Arrows who drew 1-1 with Chippa United also on Saturday.
