They triumphed 2-1 over Sekhukhune United in a DStv Premiership showdown held at the lively Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Chiefs had endured a three-game winless streak and were keen to set things right from the outset.
They initiated their strategy, focusing on utilising the flanks to deliver pinpoint crosses for Christian Saile and Pule Mmodi’s late surges into the box.
Despite their early promise, Babina Noko’s defence remained resolute, repelling Chiefs’ advances.
As the match progressed, Sekhukhune began to assert themselves, posing a genuine threat to Brandon Peterson’s goal.
Their tenacity paid off just before the halftime whistle when Elias Mokwana capitalised on a left-sided cross, beating Peterson and granting the visitors a 45th-minute lead.
In the 52nd minute, a golden opportunity presented itself to Mmodi, who found himself in a prime position to break through on goal.
However, a cruel twist of fate saw the ball get trapped beneath his feet, thwarting his shot attempt.
Chiefs relentlessly pressed forward in search of an equaliser, yet there lingered a nagging concern that they might expose themselves to conceding a second goal.
Sekhukhune remained eager to capitalise on any counter-attacking openings that arose.
The pivotal moment arrived in the 60th minute, when Edson Castillo executed a close-range header to level the score. This equaliser owed itself to a defensive blunder by Sekhukhune, as their goalkeeper, Badra Ali Sangare, erred in his pass, gifting possession to Chiefs.
With a mere 15 minutes left on the clock, Edmilson Dove electrified the stadium by connecting flawlessly with a cross from the right, propelling Chiefs into the lead.
