Chiefs coy on Bartlett joining Bafana camp for Libya clash

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says Safa has not reached out to Amakhosi about Shaun Bartlett helping Stuart Baxter with the national team.

Bafana Bafana are set to play Libya in March in their all-important 2019 Afcon qualifier match.

Baxter has called up Bartlett in the past to be his assistant in the national team, but the former Bafana Bafana striker has since joined Chiefs and needs permission from the club to participate in the national team camp.

Motaung couldn’t confirm if the club would allow Bartlett to assist Baxter.

“I’m not sure what is happening because I have not been in the office recently but there is nothing from Safa, there’s no official request,” Motaung was quoted by EWN. “I’d have to consult the people that I work with, I’ve got the chairman (Kaizer Motaung Snr), I’ve got the coach, I’ve got the committee who I work with, so I can’t say no or yes at the moment and we’ll have to wait for an official request from Safa.”
