Chiefs coach Middendorp laments costly mistake

Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp lamented the 'costly mistake at the back' after his side's draw with Free State Stars.

Amakhosi were held to a 1-1 by Ea Lla Koto at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

“The result is not good, we have not achieved what we want. I’m looking at the performance and we always start at a certain time, panicking, erratic, making individual mistakes,” Middendorp told SuperSport TV.

“If you really look at it, we had Lebogang Manyama for only 20 minutes, with 70 percent of physical capacity. We have a number of players not at their best, you have to look at it and work on it to get it right from week to week,” continued the German mentor.

“The games are going the same way, the usual costly mistakes at the back; a short (back) pass and it’s 1-0. Good, I think the referees are another discussion. They should have given us the penalty, first half on Khama Billiat. He didn’t and this one he gave and perhaps he shouldn’t have given it. It’s a little bit confusing for everyone. I think there were decisions where we should all look again and ask is this the right standard?

“But it’s not to blame for from our side, we have to do better and do right in the near future,” concluded Middendorp.

Chiefs will next face Chippa United in their last game of the season next Saturday.
