Chiefs coach explains Billiat’s absence from Arrows clash

Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp says his decision not to include Khama Billiat from his match day squad for the Golden Arrows had nothing to do with the car accident that the star player was involved in.

This comes after Billiat missed Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw against Abafana Bes’thende at the FNB Stadium.

The Zimbabwean international was involved in a car accident on Sunday afternoon when one of his tyres burst.

Amakhosi communication manager Vina Maphosa earlier confirmed to Phakaaathi that Billiat was unharmed in the accident.

Middendorp says Billiat complained about a hamstring after the 4-2 win over Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup semi-final clash on Saturday.

“Immediately after the game in Port Elizabeth he was already indicating that there were some heavy hamstring issues and the decision was he was not available for today… let’s leave it like this,” Middendorp told reporters.
