Amakhosi have just completed a second consecutive campaign without a trophy to show for their name under Steve Komphela, and as Tshabalala picked up a Absa Premiership Goal of the Month Award today (Wednesday), he said personal achievements meant little when the team was not thriving.
“For me it is difficult to say I have had a great season, where the team didn’t do well. I am even embarrassed to say I did well,” said Tshabalala on Wednesday.
“I have won goal of the month twice, but we didn’t have a good season, that is what overshadows everything. For me the biggest goal was to contribute and to help the team win at least one trophy.
“We can bounce back, we have been in this situation before and we came back stronger. We can’t go three seasons without winning anything, one of the reasons I fell in love with Chiefs was the culture of the team winning trophies … everyone wants to achieve that, it is for us to rectify our mistakes and come back stronger.”
