Chiefs bow under fans’ pressure and fire Komphela
Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says the club had no choice but to part ways with coach Steve Komphela after the violence at Moses Mabhida Stadium this past weekend.

“Steve has done a tremendous job for Chiefs and we thank him for that. But unfortunately, if it’s not to be. The reality is that results were not coming and it is sad to say that the coach is stepping down with immediate effect,” Motaung told the media.
“I would like to thank the coach for his great work, but for the safety of all people involved at the club a decision had to be made. That decision was made with him involved and all parties agreed on it.”
“There are still some issues to discuss and we as a club will also organise a proper send-off for him.”
“We still have faith in him, however, and we value him.”
