Chiefs announce new date for Soweto derby in Polokwane

Kaizer Chiefs have brought forward their DStv Premiership clash against Swallows FC due to what the club said were unavoidable circumstances.

The game, to be played at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, was set for Tuesday 2 May.

But it has since been brought forward to Monday, 1 May which is a national holiday in South Africa. 

The news of the date change were announced by the club in a statement posted on their social media and website. 

The statement says supporters who have already bought the tickets for the game should not worry as they are still valid.

“Due to unavoidable circumstances, the date for the fixture between Kaizer Chiefs and Swallows FC in Polokwane – initially scheduled for Tuesday, 2 May at 7.30 pm – has been brought forward to Monday, 1 May at 3.pm. 

“The decision has been taken after considering the availability of the Peter Mokaba Stadium and other logistical issues related to the broadcaster, SuperSport,” Chiefs wrote. 

“All the tickets that have already been sold will remain valid for the new date.

“In other words, if you have already purchased a ticket for the match, you don’t have to worry about anything. 

“Your ticket will be honoured, and you can look forward to attending the game on Workers’ Day, which is a public holiday.”

Chiefs apologises to supporters

Chiefs said those who may not be able to attend the game on the new date, can easily get a refund and apologised for the inconvenience.

“If you have purchased a ticket and are unable to attend the game on the new date, you can easily obtain a refund through Computicket. 

“The process is simple and hassle-free, and you will be assisted in every way possible.

“We apologise to football enthusiasts for any inconvenience caused by the change of date.

“We hope you understand the challenges and intricacies of scheduling top-calibre games.

“Regardless of the changes, we can assure you that this Soweto derby will be just as exciting and action-packed as you expect it to be at the end of a long weekend.”

Chiefs will be in Polokwane this weekend as well as they visit Sekhukhune United for a Premiership match.
