The announcement was made at the club’s headquarters in Naturena, where media personnel gathered to interview players and the coach, ahead of Tuesday night’s game.
Before the interviews could commence, the club’s media officer, Vina Maphosa, revealed the ‘exciting’ news that Kaizer Chiefs had ventured into the world of snacks.
He stated, “Today is not an ordinary day for a media briefing. We are here to announce to you and the public that Kaizer Chiefs…
“South Africa’s premier football club, is proud to announce its entry into the culinary world with the launch of its very first Kaizer Chiefs potato chips.”
Maphosa emphasised the close connection between football and snacking, highlighting that fans often enjoy snacks while watching matches, whether at the stadium or on TV.
“This is part of the football world. You cannot watch (football on) TV without snacking, you cannot watch the match at the stadium without snacking.
“So, this is what we are all about as Kaizer Chiefs all round,” added Maphosa.
The newly introduced potato chips come in three mouth watering flavours: grilled steak, salt and vinegar, and tomato.
The date for the chips to be available at shops is yet to be announced by the club but Maphosa promised that it would be before the end of October.
In terms of football action, Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up to host Cape Town City in a DStv Premiership match at FNB Stadium at 7:30 pm on Tuesday.
The Soweto side is riding high on confidence after a convincing 2-1 come-from-behind victory against Sekhukhune United in a game they hosted at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban last week.
Cape Town City, on the other hand, are also in good spirits, having staged a comeback to defeat city rivals Cape Town Spurs 3-1 in their previous outing.
