Caf Women’s Champions League road to final

Sundowns will be wary of Hasacaas' lethal striker Evelyn Badu who is the tournament's top scorer with five goals.

The road to the final between Mamelodi Sundowns ladies and Hasacaas ladies show different strengths the two sides possess, and this will surely make the Caf Women’s Champions League final more interesting to watch.

Sundowns ladies have displayed their defensive abilities throughout the tournament, reaching this stage without conceding a goal. But, the major factor would be the limited number of goals at the club, having only scored two goals.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaians have scored a massive nine goals in the same number of games, but their defence seems to have a loophole after conceding four goals.

Here is how the teams reached the final.

Mamelodi Sundowns

Group stages:

Sundowns 1, Vihiga Queens

Rivers Angels, 0, Sundowns 1

Sundowns 0, Asfar ladies 0

Semi-finals:

Sundowns 0, Malabo Kings 0 (Downs won 5-4 on penalties)

Hasacaas Ladies

Group Stages:

Malabo Kings 1, Hasacaas 3

Hasacaas 2, Wadi Degla FC 2

Hasacaas 3, ÀS Mande 0

Semi-final:

Hasacaas 2, Asfar 1

With Downs strong on the defence and Hasacaas able to find the back of the net, it’s interesting to see who will prevail in this encounter. Both sets of squads also boast a number of top performers and game changers.

We look at two players that might be able to steer their team into glory in this final.

Sundowns

Bambanani Mbane (defender)

The Downs and Banyana Banyana player has been fantastic in the tournament, playing quite a huge role in leading the Pretoria outfit to this stage of the tournament. Her experience of playing international football and having played overseas has quietly worked for the team.

Chuene Morifi (left-winger)

Her pace on the wing is one of Downs strengths and should they use her well, they are sure of getting goals. Morifi has already created a number of opportunities, but unfortunately they went into waste.

Hasacaas

Evelyn Badu (striker)

Badu is lethal in front of goals, someone the Downs rearguard will really have to keep a close eye on. She’s the tournament top scorer with five goals to her name.

Doris Boaduwaa (striker)

Another goal-poacher for the Ghanaians, who links up well with midfielders. Boaduwaaa has scored 16 goals for the club this season, but has only registered one goal in the competition.
