Bucks release ‘ill-disciplined’ striker

National First Division side Mthatha Bucks have released their influential striker, Lucky Mathosi, from his contract following a disciplinary hearing earlier this week.

Bucks general manager Luxolo Matikinca told the Daily Dispatch that the club decided to release the former AmaTuks striker because of his unruly behaviour and lack of commitment to Amathol’amnyama.

“We decided to release him, because Lucky only came back from the holidays on January 3 while other players have been here since December 28.

“He missed 10 training sessions, and on top of that he left a day earlier than the rest of the team.

“So there’s no commitment in a person like that, and it’s not the first time he’s behaving in this manner,” said Matikinca.

“Our situation right now demands that we keep soldiers who are on the same mission. We are on as the rest of the team. So him being here is not assisting us in any way.”

Mathosi confirmed that he has parted ways with Bucks, but refused to dwell much on the circumstances that led to his release him.

“On my way home, I was thinking to myself that these people are fighting relegation, and they are still letting people go and bring in new players.

“They don’t think it will take time for those new guys to understand each other.

“But one thing about me is that I won’t force to be where I’m not wanted because they wanted me gone,” commented Mathosi.
