Blow by blow: Orlando Pirates vs Bloemfontein Celtic

Orlando Pirates will be targeting more of the same when they welcome Bloemfontein Celtic to Orlando Stadium for an Absa Premiership clash on Tuesday evening.

The Buccaneers recorded a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Steve Komphela’s Golden Arrows at the weekend, with Justin Shonga netting what wouled turn out to be the winning goal in the 20th minute.

That result marked a second straight victory for Pirates, after defeats to SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership and ES Tunis in the CAF Champions League in their two previous fixtures.

Celtic, meanwhile, have enjoyed mixed fortunes of late, picking up five points from their last five league encounters. Their most recent result, a 0-0 draw with high-flying Sundowns last Saturday, extended their winless run to three games.

However, they will have to make do without the services of defender Wandisile Letlabika after he suffered a nasty concussion during the goalless draw with Mamelodi Sundowns last time out.

As a result, Letlabika is expected to be on the sidelines for the next two weeks as he continues his recovery.

After last Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Sundowns, Celtic caretaker coach Lehlohonolo Seema admitted Tuesday’s game would test his side’s stamina.
