Masandawana are currently three points behind Bidvest Wits but have three games in hand on their rivals with one of those fixtures to be played on Tuesday against the team from Limpopo.
The defending league champions will be clear favourites to take maximum points against a Polokwane outfit that has only won one of their last five games, drawing three and losing their last outing against basement side, Maritzburg United.
Sundowns go into the encounter with momentum as they beat Black Leopards 3-0 in their last league match while they also beat ASEC Mimosa and drew with Ivorian giants in the Caf Champions League.
Rise and Shine enjoyed a good patch of form earlier in the season but have settled into eighth position on the table.
The match kicks off at 19:30 on Tuesday evening at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
