Billiat situation is not in my hands – Mosimane

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has said he has no control over the future of want-away forward Khama Billiat.

The Zimbabwean’s future remains everyone’s guess as he appears to be stalling to put pen to paper and extend his stay with the former African champions. Billiat’s contract with Sundowns is set to expire at the end of June.

“We love him, if he stays, then okay. But that is between Khama’s agent and him and the board of Sundowns, I am not part of it,” said Mosimane.

“My job is to do what I am doing (on the pitch), to make sure that the team keeps going and staying on top of the log. The rest, I am no longer part of that. What is important is for us to have back-up,” added the former Bafana Bafana coach.

Mosimane also said Billiat’s situation is not unique, as he likens Billiat’s saga with that of Chile international Alexis Sanchez who is expected to join Manchester United.

“When you ask Arsene Wenger (Arsenal coach) I think he can tell you also with the Sanchez deal and the Mesut Ozil situation.”

Billiat marked his seven-game absence with two stunning freekicks to inspire Masandawana to a 3-0 win over Platinum Stars as Sibusiso Vilakazi got the third for the Brazilians.

“He worked hard but he couldn’t finish the game because he hasn’t been playing. We have to manage his condition,” Mosimane said of the 27-year-old.
