Billiat eager to use Afcon to secure Europe move

Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat says the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is a platform to earn a move to Europe for most players.

Billiat snubbed a move to Europe last season when he signed for Chiefs after his contract at Mamelodi Sundowns expired. The 28-year-old rejected an offer from Azerbaijani club Qarabag FK.

The Zimbabwean international says each player sees the Afcon as a tournament to be spotted by European clubs.

“It (AFCON) is a good platform for players to go to Europe to get new clubs and even get better contracts,” Billiat told SABC Sport.

“Yes, it is important for all of us. We all play football for that (to secure moves to Europe).”
