Benni told to watch his mouth

Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has asked club coach Benni McCarthy to be mindful of his words when he is on the touchline.

McCarthy was caught on camera insulting an Ajax player for a foul committed on one of his players during the Cape Town derby.

Comitis has asked the former Bafana Bafana striker to keep his temper in check ahead of the MTN8 clash against SuperSport United on Saturday.

“He needs to be mindful that there are cameras and must select his words more carefully. We do not condone swearing. A game like that [the derby] can get heated but next time he should be more watchful,” Comitis told The Sowetan.

Comitis is pleased with the club’s progress so far this season.

“The final will be more smash-and-grab. We got off to a great start and right now we are looking to stabilise the squad and have more consistency.

“You can see that the team is maturing. At the beginning of the season we were worried about the stability because of the situation with Lebogang Manyama and Aubrey Ngoma who wanted to leave.”
