Baxter names Hlatshwayo as Bafana captain

Baxter made the announcement at a press conference on Monday.

“He has all qualities of captain, playing regularly, has experience and leads by example,” said Baxter.

Baxter added that he will not be rotating the captain’s armband, as it was the case with previous coach Shakes Mashaba.

“Captain’s armband should be valued, not rotated and moved across 16 players. So this is permanent.”

Meanwhile, Bafana doctor Thulani Ngwenya has revealed that Lebogang Manyama, Andile Jali, Tokelo Rantie, Tiyani Mabunda, Aubrey Ngoma, Rivaldo Coetzee and Eric Mathoho are carrying assortment of injuries.

“We will make the final call after scans as Rantie and Coetzee need to go for scans. We will also check them ourselves.”
