The Clever Boys have been struggling badly in the defence of their Absa Premiership title this season, but they did beat Baroka in Polokwane 1-0 in the league last month and this time they won by the same scoreline at Bidvest Stadium, courtesy of Amr Gamal’s third goal of this year’s TKO.

Wits have now won four out of four against Baroka over the last two seasons, scoring nine times and conceding none. Baroka have had a great start to the 2017/18 campaign, topping the league, but they came unstuck here, and Thobejane blamed a poor first half display.
“In the first half we were losing balls too much,” he told SuperSport TV.
“But in the second at least we came back and tried to keep the ball … it is just that sometimes my players were scared.”
Wits coach Gavin Hunt was happy, and praised Nazeer Allie, who played for the first hour as a centreback, with injuries forcing him to play out of position.
“He was fantastic … (he has been a) great servant to the game,” Hunt said.
