Banyana striker’s unpleasant stay in Belarus

Banyana Banyana and Mamelodi Sundowns ladies striker Rhoda Mulaudzi has revealed that her stay in Belarus with Dinamo Minsk wasn’t a pleasant one after spending only one season with the club.

The Limpopo born striker joined the Belarusian outfit last year in August after a sterling campaign with Downs ladies in the Safa National Women’s League (now known as the Hollywoodbets Super League).

However, Mulaudzi says she grew as a player at the club, where she was later joined by fellow Banyana teammate Lebogang Ramalepe, who is still playing for the club while Mulaudzi got back to the Pretoria outfit early this year.

“Football wise I improved technically. Usually I play as a striker, and in Belarus I was made to play as a winger so I became a better all-round player. But life outside of football was not enjoyable. Language was a big issue. It was difficult to grasp even though I tried my best to learn,” said the Downs ladies striker.

“I better understand football and am able to utilise my skill and strength together with my brain. I am better able to anticipate a teammate’s next move, and have become a team player, rather than playing for myself.”

Having recently played in the Caf women’s Champions League and winning the tournament, Mulaudzi and her Banyana Ba Style teammates came up against some of the top women football teams and players in the continent.

But, if there is one player that caught her eye it is Moroccan international and Asfar ladies midfielder Fatima Tagnout, and Mulaudzi believes the Moroccan midfielder would be a great buy for Downs.

“She’s quick, smart, skilful and can dribble. Her passing ability also makes her a great team player and she would bring a lot of positivity especially with her attacking.”
