Baloyi’s advice to Chiefs’ new recruits

The 26-year-old Baloyi spent seven years at Amakhosi before leaving to join Bloemfontein Celtic last month.

Baloyi says Amakhosi are a big team that can catapult you into celebrity status within weeks and urged the new players not to let that go into their heads.

“For Zuma and other players who have joined Chiefs what I can advise them on is that they must know it is a big team and they must remain humble and work hard. It is a team who can take you to the lime light. You play two or three games and everywhere you go people suddenly recognise you and want to speak to you,” said Baloyi.

On joining Celtic, he said it was a great move for his career growth.

“It is a great move but it was not the only option I had. But I chose them because they had wanted me for a long time.

“I remember when I finished my loan at Moroka Swallows they wanted me but I felt I needed to go back to Chiefs and fight for my place,” he said.

He said he understood that his time at Amakhosi had come to an end he needed to move on and start a life somewhere else.

“I was not disappointed. The journey continues for me. What I achieved at Chiefs is now history and I am starting a new journey here.”
