South Africa need a point to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon), which will be played in Egypt later this year.
“We need a draw, let’s go for a draw. I am not saying let’s defend but you got to have an expectation in football, but sometimes you need to get what you need,” Goldstone told Phakaaathi.
“The positive is we are in Tunisia, we have to play with a level of discipline on that day.”
The 43-year-old has called on South Africans to support coach Stuart Baxter and his players, explaining that criticising the Englishman for leaving out certain players will not benefit the national team.
“I think we put our own expectations on the national team. Let Baxter have who he wants in the team, and whoever he feels can do the job for that match. We don’t need fancy things, they need to be clinical. I don’t care who is there, we must support the players and those that are there need to understand their responsibility and role in representing the country.”
