Ayanda Patosi wants out at City?

Ayanda Patosi is said to be unhappy at Cape Town City and wants out of the club.

According to a source close to the player, Patosi did not take kindly to coach Benni McCarthy lashing out at him after the Nedbank Cup win against Bidvest Wits over a fortnight ago.

Patosi was taken off after just 35 minutes, with McCarthy bringing on young Craig Martins in his place, as City went on to win the game 1-0.

Patosi looked upset and was seen exchanging words with McCarthy on the sidelines.

McCarthy admitted afterwards that he and Patosi had exchanged words.

“We had our exchange of words, but that’s normal; no one’s happy [when they get substituted early]. Me neither – I would have kicked off massively.

“But I would have probably knocked my head against the wall if I played s***, or if I knew I deserved to come off after 20 minutes, and I can’t really fault the coach or my team-mates,” said McCarthy.

“If you’re a good professional, and you know your ability and the level that you should be on, and you’re not giving that, then you can’t really fight … And if it’s a fight that you want, good luck!”

Now a source close to Patosi has told Phakaaathi that Patosi was not happy with McCarthy’s response.

“Benni has always been on Patosi’s case since the season started and now he has had enough of his rantings and wants out. He likes Cape Town City, but he is not happy at the club any more,” said the source.

Meanwhile, Patosi was left out of the City squad for last Saturday’s clash against Kaizer Chiefs, which City lost 1-0.
