Atouba will be a star – Davids

Cameroonian attacking midfielder, Yazid Atouba is slowly finding his feet in the Premier Soccer League and will soon be a big influence for Maritzburg United, his coach Fadlu Davids has revealed.

The 24-year-old made a rather forgattable debut to the local game when he was red carded in his first appearance for the Team of Choice in an MTN8 semifinals in September.

Atouba however had shown signs of becoming an influential player, making some good touches before the undesirable red card.

He has since been involved in six matches for Marizburg and Davids has been impressed with what he has seen so far.

“It’s difficult coming from another country and you get a lot of weight put on your shaulder as you are expected to replace the club’s former star in Kurt Lentjies. He is settling in well,” said Davids as quoted in The Witness on Wednesday.

“I saw some positives in our last match in his attacking play. He can only grow from here on. He is getting used to the environment, the intensity, physicality and pace of this league.
“The PSL is surprisingly fast paced for the guys coming from north african countries,” said Davids.
