Gumede has been a revelation in the Abafana Bes’thende goals in his breakthrough season and wants something to show for it.
“My confidence is quite high because the technical team have shown faith in me,” said Gumede who was named Man-of-the-Match in Arrows’ 1-1 draw against Ajax cape Town at the weekend.
“I think I am reaping the rewards of hard work. That is what happens in life if you work hard, you get rewarded,” Isolezwe quoted him as saying.
Gumede is expected to be in the starting line-up again on Saturday when Abafana Bes’thende take on Platinum Stars in a Ke Yona tie.
“We cannot allow Stars to stop us from advancing. Based on how we have been working hard lately, I think we should be able to go past them. We have set out to win the Nedbank Cup,” said the 23-year-old.
