Angry fans bay for Komphela and Chiefs players’ blood

Some angry Chiefs fans waited for Komphela and the players near the tunnel after the game and pelted them with objects.


Kaizer Chiefs players and coach Steve Komphela had to be escorted off the pitch by police and security personnel as the angry fans bayed for blood after the club’s defeat to Chippa United on Saturday afternoon.

Chiefs were handed a 3-0 home drubbing by upstarts Chippa at FNB Stadium that ended any slim hopes they might have had of a late challenge at the league title.

Goals from Thabo Rakhale, Mxolisi Macuphu and Edward Manqele were enough to earn the Chilli Boys a much deserved win again Amakhosi.

Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune tried to calm the situation but was also attacked by the angry fans.
