AmaZulu use Fifa break to fix mistakes ahead of Chiefs clash

AmaZulu FC midfielder Hendrick Ekstein says the time off from competitive football was good for the club.

The midfielder added that the break has given Usuthu time to prepare for Saturday’s Carling Black Label knockout clash against Kaizer Chiefs.

“I think this break is a good thing for us. We have been preparing and I think we have been preparing very well because the friendlies that we have we played we won almost all of them,” Ekstein told the club’s media.

“I think the guys are ready. We saw that we are playing the Carling Knockout next week. I think we will be ready. We will have another week to get on top of that.”

Usuthu will be going into the clash against Chiefs at FNB Stadium hoping to get a positive result after a disappointing start to the campaign under new coach Pablo Franco-Martin.

In the eight league matches played so far, AmaZulu have registered four draws, two wins and two losses.

But, Ekstein believes the team will be able to turn things around for the better going forward, especially with the club having a lot of senior players who will be able to motivate younger players to grind results.

“We have a lot of senior players in the team. We need to push each other,” the former Chiefs midfielder added.

“It is not about individuals for us but we as a team need to guide each other and help one another get the results and progress.”

Meeting Amakhosi in the Carling Knockout will give Usuthu a chance to avenge the 3-0 loss they suffered against Amakhosi in the league this season.
