AmaZulu look to continue winning

Cavin Johnson’s charges shocked last year’s Caf Confederation Cup runner’s up SuperSport United with a 2-0 win at the same venue in their previous game.

Veteran striker Siyabonga Nomvethe was on the scoring on the day, along with former Kaizer Chiefs player David Karuru to end Usuthu’s seven-match winless streak in the league.

Prior to winning against SuperSport, Usuthu had recorded four draws and three defeat putting them position 13th on the log standings with 18 points from 16 matches.

Johnson says his team stuck to the game plan against SuperSport.

“Look, we did not play pretty football. But sometimes you need to plan differently in order to get the three points,” Johnson told the club’s website.

“I should give credit to the players because they stuck to the game plan.

“We told ourselves no matter what happens we won’t concede (against SuperSport).

“That in itself it is a confidence booster for the next game. We will build on this win.”

Meanwhile, Celtic will head into this tie after suffering a 1-0 defeat in the hands of Bidvest Wits.
