AmaZulu finally pay Namibian player his compensation
Nhlanhla Shabalala, the secretary general of the SA Football Players' Union (Safpu), has confirmed that Usuthu have paid over R1-million in compensation to Phinheas Nambandi.

This comes after Fifa ruled in favour of the Namibian player in a dispute between him and AmaZulu over his release.
AmaZulu were docked six points by the Premier Soccer League after missing the deadline to pay the player as ordered to do so by Fifa.
“The amount is actually in the region of R1.5m, because Fifa charged interest,” Shabalala told Sunday World.
“If they didn’t pay the money – Fifa is not a joke, they (AmaZulu) stood to be relegated. If they did not comply this time, we were going to write a letter to Fifa, who were going to refer the matter to their disciplinary committee where a decision that SA Football Association (Safa) must relegate AmaZulu could have emanated,” he added.
Shabalala believes it was unfair of Usuthu to terminate Nambandi’s contract for underperformance because football is a team sport and a player shouldn’t be singled out when the side is not performing well.
